Having interned at the Goring the year before its Michelin star, I had been wanting to go back as a diner for a while. My mother’s birthday presented the perfect opportunity and I am so glad we went. The service was seamless and the food was really good classic cooking. The starters were slightly disappointing which was a shame but the beef was melt in the mouth and deliciously rich; with a sauce so shiny it was like a mirror glaze. The apple and hazelnut pudding was wonderfully presented and also truly scrumtious- if slightly heavy. Overall though we were happy, the evening was great and The Goring is a very special quintessentially English hotel which I thoughrougly reccomend. The bar is not one to be missed on a cold english afternoon, sit by the fire and have a warming cocktail!
